@ Tutanota I think they took it down 😂 i wanted the fake chrome app!

@ Tutanota Google headed down the Microsoft path of enshittification. I have my last Google product in my hand. Almost ready for replacement and it won't be a product that has had their hands near it.

@ Tutanota lol. Idiots. Well user experience and cyber security are not their business model. Data harvesting, profiling and advertising are. So, as he says in Joker, "YOU GET WHAT YOU FUCKING DESERVE!"

@ patrickleavy @ Tutanota Do you really believe alternative OSes are better? Curious to know what you use. Please enlighten us. 😉

  6. @patrickleavy@mastodon.social · 2h ago

@ jeantranscene @ Tutanota the main alternatives are GrapheneOS, Lineage OS, Murena (e/OS/) and IodéOS. And a couple of others we list here: https://www. rebeltechalliance.org/mobileos .html I'm using a Pixel phone with IodéOS on it. Solid, everything works. No google. If you have a phone model on the "easy list" on that webpage then you can easily flash one of those OS into it.

@ patrickleavy @ Tutanota Thanks for the enlightment. I've been eying Graphene OS and others for some time now but my phone is not on the easy list (no Samsung made it there). I was also concerned about updates and support given the limited selection of phone in there. I'll give that a try if I ever get a compatible device. I'll stand with the "idiots" crowd for now. 😏

    @ Tutanota A globally-sized F-Droid to them!!

@ Tutanota I lost hope in my politicians. I hope the EU can fight this

  10. @Pouakai@mastodon.social · 1 points · 2h ago

@ Tutanota Google's 'safety' excuse is quite similar to EU commission's 'child safety', both working in opposite way and harm everyone. If this isn't stoppable, vendors like Fairphone should sell devices with custom ROM by default instead of Android

@ Tutanota "Closing" Android is enshitifying it. It is just faster than I expected.

@ Tutanota the play store is like a virus. Its total slop. F droid all the way.

@ Tutanota Centralizing control means centralizing _mistakes_. Concentrating power leads to bigger potential catastrophes from those mistakes. This is not only an argument against the likes of Google; it's an argument against any and all large entities.
