This has been true for the last quarter century. And definitely not just Cigna, although they were one of the worst offenders back when I was helping prepare prior auths and I doubt anything has changed.
THERE SHOULD BE NO STOCK MARKET INVESTOR INCENTIVES FOR ANYTHING AT ALL HAVING TO DO WITH HEALTHCARE I DON'T WANT HOSPITALS ADVERTISING PROFESSIONAL SPORTS TEAMS I DON'T WANT HOSPITALS GIVING CEO BONUSES I WANT HOSPITALS HELPING SICK PEOPLE GET BETTER FOR AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE FUCKING PERIOD
Sadly this has been the case in the private sector for decades. Quantity was always valued over quality. It's always been more profitable to make vast amounts of garbage than spend the money to make things that last. The same goes with services. Just crank it out no matter how wrong it is.
Cigna has become a very difficult company to trust for payment, or even to get information from. Their website is a deep maze. Providence is another that will use anything to as an excuse to deny payment.
The entire health insurance system as used in the United States needs to be replaced with a universally funded, more effective system that everybody can access. By far the main things blocking the adoption of universal health care are large hospital corporations and pharmaceutical companies.
Healthcare for profit cannot be health care for all. It is an essential service, and should be regulated as such. The lawmakers owned by hospital corporations and pharmaceutical companies should be held accountable for failing to act in interest of their constituents.
So, like every business trend in America. I worked at a plant bought by Private Equity that had us outline footprints on the floor so workers would not take an extra step for the next process. We measured production in seconds, not minutes. Not life and death like an insurance co., but humiliating.

I’m sorry. I hate them too. They keep my husband living in chronic pain. Cigna was one of the worst we’ve experienced over the years.

For a physician, taking a job with these companies must be like deciding to deliver food for Uber. Why?
@longscope.bsky.social · 1 points · 20m ago
To pay off student loans, usually.
