A true Budoka at such a young age, wow. ❤️ I taught Japanese martial art for 15 years,it’s tough for Western gaijin to understand this attitude: Your opponent is your teacher. Real opponent is often yourself. Respect for opponent is paramount,prevents dangerous behaviour. Humility is strength.
Not enough space to explain all the points of Japanese Budoka philosophy. As someone who trained/trained with SOF & regular military from many countries-& my art was *brutal*-we always taught humility,respect & default to “least damage” unless the situation dictated lethal. Even then,quick death
We used to train/teach 360 degree awareness,that many v one (aka reality of most situations that turn to shit)-the most dangerous one was rarely the loudest,usually the calm & quiet one. If they’re calm/quiet when shits going down,they’re a pro. Get the loudmouth between you & him then bugger off
